Waterford Academy - Circa 1850

Waterford Academy in 1857

An artists drawing of the Academy believed done in 1850 before the three additions were added.

In 1858 they removed the stone outer wall of the east side from the second floor to the roof, extended the upper floor outward for 20 feet, made one very large assembly room, and divided the first floor into two laboratory rooms. The work was completed in one year. The measurements of the new addition were 20 foot by 34 foot with a full basement.

This picture and the explanation were both furnished by Lou Dove.
